Celestia

Size: 6" x 6"
Medium: Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Surface: Acid-Free Archival Paper
Style: Composite Realism
Artist: Thaneeya McArdle

This elaborately detailed drawing is part of my new Deep Thinkers series, in which various animals are juxtaposed with evidence of human thought, in the form of mathematical equations, quotes, definitions, musical scores, etc. These pieces depict a zen-like transcendent bridge between conceptual thinking and animalistic consciousness. These two contrasts are united by a careful use of color and decorative design. This piece depicts a sulfur-crested cockatoo grandly posed before a series of ancient solar system models. The use of color and design in this piece lends the bird a regal quality. He has the air of an explorer, one who has travelled far and seen much. This artwork is entirely hand-drawn using Prismacolor colored pencils. The paper has a 1" border around all four edges to allow for easy matting and framing.
This drawing is SOLD.
